Other Site Characteristics

Das Gebiet umfasst die Unterläufe von Sandbach und Leitenbach sowie ca. 3,5 km der Aschach. Es beherbergt einen Oberösterreich-weit bedeutenden Großmuschelbestand. Die Population der Flussperlmuschel ist die wichtigste südlich der Donau.

4.2 Quality and importance

Obwohl das Gebiet über weite Strecken von intensiv landwirtschaftlich bewirtschafteten Flächen begleitet wird und die Bäche auf langen Strecken begradigt wurden, kommen eine Reihe von gefährdeten Tierarten (insbesondere Großmuscheln und Fische) vor.
