Other Site Characteristics

Das Natura 2000 Gebiet "Naturschutzgebiet Vilsalpsee" befindet sich im Gebiet der Trennlinie zwischen Hauptdolomit und Aptychenkalk. Bestimmend sind in diesem äußerst artenreichen Gebiet neben den schroffen Hauptdolomitfelsen die beiden Seen Vilsalpsee und Traualpsee.

4.2 Quality and importance

Das Gebiet ist bis auf einige bauliche Anlagen am Nordufer des Vilsalpsees unerschlossen und teilweise unzugänglich. Diese Unzugänglichkeit führte zu einer Ausprägung sehr seltener faunistischer und floristischer Einheiten.

Die Tiroler Landesregierung, Abteilung Umweltschutz ließ im Jahr 1994 eine Biotopinventarisierung einschließlich Pflegevorschlägen erstellen. Derzeit wird an der Umsetzung gearbeitet.
