Other Site Characteristics

This SAC consist of many smaller areas, often along Campine rivers. Most of the Campine ancient woodland sites on oligotrophic dryer sand grounds are situated within the SAC. The river valleys are characterzed by continuous complexes of alluvial forest with scattered ponds, hay meadows, reed-beds and forbs.

4.2 Quality and importance

Large site complex with woodland, heathland and dry grassland habitats. Important for acidophilous Quercus woodland and alluvial woodland. High potential for further improvement of heathland habitats. Habitat of annex II endangered fish species and plant species.
