  • NP: in case that a habitat type no longer exists in the site enter: x (optional)
  • Cover: decimal values can be entered
  • Caves: for habitat types 8310, 8330 (caves) enter the number of caves if estimated surface is not available.
  • Data quality: G = 'Good' (e.g. based on surveys); M = 'Moderate' (e.g. based on partial data with some extrapolation); P = 'Poor' (e.g. rough estimation)

Other Site Characteristics

This complex includes the most important and largest area of coastal dunes, the estuary of the Yser and the Zwin, an area under direct influence of the sea (which exists of sea inlets, tidal gullies, creeks, salt marshes, mud flats and dunes).

4.2 Quality and importance

This is the only and most important Belgian area of coastal dune vegetation with important cover of grey and white dunes. Future conservation and management plans can improve the quality of the area.
