Other Site Characteristics

Site inclus dans le périmètre du Parc Naturel des Plaines de l'Escaut, à l'ouest du village de Roucourt et connu sous le nom des "Marais de la Roë et de la "Terre Noire". Il comprend des milieux alluviaux alimenté par la Verne de Bury et traversés par de nombreux canaux.

4.2 Quality and importance

Intérêt principal consistant en la présence de bois alluviaux, de mégaphorbiaies, de cariçaies, de roselières, de saulaies... milieux relativement bien conservés et devenus rares dans le Hainaut ; Présence de prairies humides, jouxtant les pâtures, abritant de remarquables stations d'orchidées dont certaines espèces peu courantes en Wallonie.
