Other Site Characteristics

o Site composé de petites entités forestières réparties sur une ligne N-S entre Leers-et-Fosteau et Thuin (Bois des Agaises, Bois Lyon, Bois de Biercée, Bois de l'Ecluse) ;o Comprend aussi le site de La Buissière, installée au confluent de la Hantes et de la Sambre, à l'ouest de Thuin, un des derniers témoins des nombreux marécages qui se succédaient jadis dans la Haute-Sambre.

4.2 Quality and importance

o Présence de buxaies thermophiles sur les flancs de la vallée , milieux très rares dans cette région ;o Rivières de qualité moyenne, malgré la présence de certains tronçons de Ranunculion fluitantis bien conservés ;o Présence de plusieurs espèces d'intérêt communautaire : triton crêté, bouvière, Vertigo moulinsiana et mulette épaisse.
