Other Site Characteristics

o Le site des Mardelles d'Arbrefontaine comprend trois vallées parallèles formées par de petits ruisseaux typiquement ardennais, prenant leur source sur le plateau situé au sud-est de Basse-Bodeux. Ces zones de sources comportent de nombreuses zones tourbeuses et lithalses de grand intérêt biologique.

4.2 Quality and importance

o Présence d'une très belle zone de tourbière boisée, ainsi que d'une aulnaie-boulaie marécageuse et oligotrophe en tête de source, à proximité de Fosse ; o Présence de pessières sur sols tourbeux, encore susceptibles de restauration ; o Présence de petites tourbières de transition et tremblantes dans des mardelles en cours de colmatage par des tapis de sphaignes : milieux particulièrement rares et riches et importants sur les plans botanique et entomologique ; o Présence d'oiseaux forestiers typiques des milieux ardennais.
