Other Site Characteristics

o Camp militaire créé en 1974 et comprenant environ 1000 ha de prairies et autres milieux ouverts (Molinion, Mesobromion, mégaphorbiaies, magnocariçaies, pelouses schisteuses, prés de fauche et pâtures), sur des terrains schisto-psammitiques du Famennien; o Sols essentiellement constitués d'argile à charge schisteuse et gleyfié ;o Site composés de bois de chênes principalement (y compris de jeunes plantations), et de résineux, de bosquets de recolonisation, de prés et prairie et de friches variées.

4.2 Quality and importance

o Site de grande importance pour certains habitats précieux : prairies maigres de fauche, prairies à molinies, pentes rocheuses siliceuses, aulnaies, chênaies pédonculées de Famenne ; o Site de grand intrérêt pour plusieurs espèces d'oiseaux menacées (ZPS) ; le site héberge un population importante de Triturus cristatus et une population (ré) introduite de Bombina variegata o Présence de plantes rares, parfois même à l'échelle européenne : Saxifraga rosacea subsp. sponhemica.
