Other Site Characteristics

Wide spread site including different biotopes – forests, rocks (including artificial galleries), small marshes and grasslands. It is judiciously to propose the synantropic vegetation from classes Stellarietea mediae and Artemisietea vulgaris as another type of habitat. there is precense on the therritory of Lozenska planina is about 1,5%. These communities cover the urban parts of the mountain in the regions around villages Dolni Pasarel, Gorni Lozen and German. Remark:The coniferous woodlands in the Site are artificial stands Heath Scrub, Maquis and Garrigue, Phgrana are presented with the communities of Coryllus avellana and Carpinus betulus, and they have not code in N2000.

4.2 Quality and importance

high - Variability of habitats (forests, artificial galleries, small ponds, pastures, streams, a river, meadows, shrubs). 5. SITE PROTECTION STATUS

5.1 Designation types at national and regional level:

Code Cover [%]
BG00100.00

5.3 Site designation (optional)

Lozenska planina has an economic and reacreation role. The site is a source of valuable forest and other recourses, which must be used wisely by the people, to regulate their exploatation and to see to the protection and restoration of the plant populations. The closeness of the mountain to the capital Sofia, make it a strongly visiting tourist object. as a resoult of this its declaration for the zone with special status, would be a prevanive step to protection of the habitats in it and also their biological diversity.
