Sandige Flussniederung mit außergewöhnlicher Artenvielfalt in regelmäßig überfluteten Außendeichsbereichen sowie in Teilen der eingedeichten Aue. Einbezogen sind einige Nebenflüsse und -bäche sowie ein bedeutendes Quellgebiet.

4.2 Quality and importance

In Niedersachsen einzige bzw. größte Vorkommen mehrerer Lebensraumtypen und Arten der Anh. I und II. Außergewöhnlich großflächiger und vielfältiger Biotopkomplex. Mehrere Arten am Nordwestrand ihrer Verbreitung. EU-Vogelschutzgebiet.
