Other Site Characteristics

Komplexes, weitgehend intaktes Moorgebiet mit wertvollen Eichenmischwäldern und Erlen-Eschenwäldern. Lebensraum typischer Tierarten der Hoch- und Zwischenmoore sowie der Feuchtwälder.

4.2 Quality and importance

Schutz des besterhaltenen meso- bis oligotroph sauren Hangmoores der Altmark mit aktuellem Moorwachstum. Sicherung der Umgebung des Moores mit Moorwäldern und feuchten Stieleichenwäldern sowie eines vielgestaltigen Dünenkomplexes. Aus dem Gebiet sind vorgeschichtliche Grabhügel bekannt. Glazilimnische Staubeckenbildungen des Warthestadials.
