Große offene Niederung im nördl. Kreis Steinfurt am Mittellandkanal nordwestl. v. Osnabrück. Die ausgedehnten grund- und stauwassergeprägten Grünländer mit eingestreuten abgetorften Hochmoorresten liegen im Übergang zw. atlant. u. kont. Biogeogr. Region. Im Gebiet kommen folgende FFH-Lebensraumtypen vor: 2330, 4010, 4030, 6410, 6510, 7120, 9190, 91D0, 7110
