Naturnahe, strukturreiche Flussaue der Mittleren Elbe mit ausgedehnten Überflutungsbereichen. Üppige Hartholzauewälder, weite Grünlandgebiete und ein Weichholzauesaum entlang der Altwasser und der Elbe prägen die Landschaft.

Bedeutendes Nahrungs-,Brut-,Rast-u.Überwinterungsgeb.m.auentyp.Vogelarten. Gebiet m.regional wichtigen Vogelansammlungen (B1, B2, B3).Top-5-Gebiet f. eine Anzahl v. Arten, insbes. für Seeadler, Rotmilan, Schwarzspecht u. Mittelspecht (C6). Bevorzugtes Siedlungsgebiet in ur- und frühgeschichtlicher Zeit mit Erhaltung von überregional bedeutsamen Fundstellen bei Flötz, Steutz und Rietzmeck. Es liegen keine Informationen vor.
