Submontanes bis hochmontanes Waldgebiet mit Hainsimsen-Buchen-Wäldern und Fichtenwäldern. Außerdem naturnahe Hochmoore, Silikatfelsen- und Blockhalden, Bäche, Erlenwälder, Schluchtwälder, Staudenfluren, Borstgrasrasen u.a.

Hohe Bedeutung für Vogelgemeinschaften großflächiger, störungsarmer, bruthö lenreicher Nadel- und Mischwaldkomplexe sowie lichter, beerenkrautreicher Wälder mit reichem Unterwuchs, auch Brutgebiet für Klippen-/Felsbrüter.
