Other Site Characteristics

West- und südwestexponierte Felsfluren und Trockenrasen auf z.T. lößüberdecktem Sandstein. Kleine Abraumhalden der Kupferschieferverhüttung und Reste von Eichen-Hainbuchenwäldern vorhanden.

4.2 Quality and importance

Sehr gut ausgeprägte und vielfältige Felsfluren, Trocken- und Halbtrockenrasen. Lebensraum für zahlreiche Pflanzen- und Tierarten. Große Dichte archäologischer Kulturdenkmale, einige Burganlagen (z.B. 'Alte Burg' in Rothenburg). Saaledurchbruchstal im Bereich des Halle-Hettstedter Sattels (Sandsteine und Konglomerate des Oberkarbon).
