Komplexes, in Teilflächen gegliedertes System offener bis bewaldeter Feucht- und Trockenstandorte im Einzugsbereich der Kleinen Elster.

Naturnahe Laub- und Nadelwaldgesellschaften, System von Still- und Fließgewässern, repräsentative Feuchtwiesen und -heiden, basiphile Trockenrasen. Regionaler Schwerpunkt der Rotbauchunkenvorkommen.
