Other Site Characteristics

Großflächig Grünland versch. Feuchtegrade, eingestreut Salzstellen des Binnenlandes mit Salzpfannen, Salzwiesen, Brackwasserröhricht. Im Süden überwiegend Flutrasen,Feuchtbrachen, verlandete Stillgewässer mit Schilfröhricht. Altwasser östlich der Werra.

4.2 Quality and importance

Hessenweit größte Salzstelle des Binnenlands. Hessenweite Bedeutung als Brutgebiet für Wiesenvögel u. Röhrichtbewohner. Hohe Bedeutung für seltene Heuschreckenarten der Feuchtwiesen. Holozäne Auensedimente.Salzhaltiges Grundwasser in der Kiesschicht der Werrra,in ca. 3-4 m Tiefe. Austritt an der Oberfläche, wo Ton-/Lehmschichten durchlässig.
