Prägend ist der natürliche Flusslauf der Argen, an Wildflüsse gebundene Biotope und Arten konnten sich bis heute halten, bedingt durch hohe Niederschläge bestehen ideale Voraussetzungen für die Entstehung von Übergangs- und Niedermooren.

4.2 Quality and importance

Argen weist streckenweise eine hohe Naturnähe auf, Pfeifengraswiesen, Nieder- und Übergansmoore und Weiher bilden einen zweiten landschaftsprägenden Aspekt. Arten: Strömer, Steinkrebs, Bachmuschel, Sumpf-Glanzkraut, Goldener-Scheckenfalter. Weitgehend unverfälschte Siedlungsstruktur mit Elementen traditioneller Landnutzung. Zeugnisse der glazialen und postglazialen Landschaftsentwicklung. Als Zeugnis einer noch weitgehend unverfälschten Wildflusslandschaft von überregionaler Bedeutung.
