Other Site Characteristics

Karuse-Linnuse loodusala asub Läänemaal ning selle pindala on 400 ha. Ala on väärtuslik eelkõige vanade puistute tõttu, kuid laiguti esineb ka poollooduslikke kooslusi. Loodusala koosneb kolmest lahustükist. Põhjapoolseimal lahustükil valdavad metsaelupaigad vanad laialehised metsad (9020) ja sürjametsad (9060), lahustüki äärealadel on lisaks väikeste laikudena nõmmesid (4030) ja niiduelupaiku - puisniite (6530) ja puiskarjamaid (9070). Keskmisel lahustükil kaitstakse vanu laialehiseid metsasid (9010). Tegemist on kujunemisjärgus elupaigaga, kus puistu vanus on 50-60 aastat ja peapuuliikideks on hall lepp, mänd ja kask. Lõunapoolseim lahustükil esineb mosaiikselt vanu laialehiseid metsi (9020) ja sürjametsi (9060). Lahustüki lõunaosas valdavad nõmmed (4030) ja ürt-punanupuga niidud (6510) ning esineb elupaik pangametsad (9180). Lahustükk jääb Kõverdama raba vahetuslähedusse ja see loob tingimused siirdesoo-- ja rabametsade (91D0) esinemiseks

4.2 Quality and importance

Karuse-Linnuse loodusalal esinevad elupaigad on kuivad nõmmed (4030), kadastikud (5130), niiskuslembesed kõrgrohustud (6430), aas-rebasesaba ja ürt-punanupuga niidud (6510), puisniidud (*6530), rikutud, kuid taastumisvõimelised rabad (7120), vanad loodusmetsad (*9010), vanad laialehised metsad (*9020), okasmetsad oosidel ja moreenikuhjatistel (sürjametsad – 9060), puiskarjamaad (9070), soostuvad ja soo-lehtmetsad (*9080), rusukallete ja jäärakute metsad (pangametsad – *9180) ning siirdesoo- ja rabametsad (*91D0). Elupaikade esinduslikkus on valdavalt arvestatav, vaid puisniidu ja puiskarjamaa esinduslikkus on hea. Karuse-Linnuse laialehised metsad on sobilikuks kasvukohaks rohelisele kaksikhambale (Dicranum viride), mis on Eestis kohatise levikuga (22 teadaolevat leiukohta). Sood ja märjad lagedad elupaigad on kasvukohaks emaputkele (Angelica palustris).
