Other Site Characteristics

Está formado por un campo de lavas recientes de origen explosivo, junto a un cono bien conservado, con afloramiento terrosos más antiguos. La cubierta vegetal es escasa, dominando los líquenes a una vegetación vascular pobre. La fauna cuenta con algunas especies importantes, como la lisneja (chalcides occidentales) y varias especies de aves.

4.2 Quality and importance

Alberga las mejores poblaciones del endemismo vegetal Crambe sventanii y es un área muy importante en la distribución del reptil Chalcides occidentalis. Asimismo alberga hábitats prioritarios, como la vegetación de dunas fijas y los palmerales. Incluye campos de lavas recientes (malpaíses) cin un cono colcánico y formaciones geomorgológicas de origen erosivo (cuchillos).
