Llanura ubicada en una terraza fluvial del río Henares, ocupada mayoritariamente por cultivos herbáceos de secano.

4.2 Quality and importance

Este lugar alberga una densa población de avutarda, que ocupa también terrenos de similares características de la vecina Comunidad de Madrid, ya designados ZEPA. Para esta especie, cumple el criterio numérico necesario para su designación como Zona de Especial Protección. Junto a avutarda (Otis tarda), son comunes en la zona como sedentarios el sisón (Tetrax tetrax), la ortega (Pterocles orientalis), la calandria (Melanocorypha calandra), la terrera común (Calandrella brachydactyla), la alondra (Alauda arvensis), cogujada común (Galerida theklae) y triguero (Miliaria calandra). En época de cría es también común el aguilucho cenizo (Circus aeruginosus), y en invernada el aguilucho pálido (Circus cyaneus) y el esmerejón (Falco columbarius).
