Other Site Characteristics

Zona costera muy abrupta situada en el SW de Mallorca. Los materiales calcáreos del Jurásico y del Neogeno forman acantilados importantes, erosionados por pequeños torrentes de pendiente muy pronunciada. La zona superior está ocupada por pinares y amplias zonas dominadas por la gramínea Ampelodesma mauritanica, muy favorecida por los incendios, el pastoreo uy las cabras cimarronas, que son muy abundantes en la zona.

4.2 Quality and importance

En la zona nidifica el Águila pescadora, el Halcón de eleonor y el Halcón peregrino y otras especies del Anexo I de la Directiva 79/409/CEE. Existe una cavidad importante (la Cova de sa Cella), accesible sólo por mar, que alberga una de las poblaciones más grandes y mejor conocidas de Pardela balear. Es un punto importante durante las migraciones de paseriformes
