Other Site Characteristics

Extremo S de la isla de Mallorca formado por materiales mayoritariamente cuaternarios que forman una costa baja tabular en la cara E y con amplias playas en la vertiente opuesta. En el interior de la zona se encuentran dos lagunas salobres de gran interés por su tipología (una de ellas podría tener origen kárstico) y su buen estado de conservación

4.2 Quality and importance

Además de la presencia de varios hábitats importantes la zona tiene un gran valor para la conservación por la nidificación de varias especies del Anexo I de la Directiva 79/409/CEE, especialmente el Alcaraván, que en esta zona alcanza sus mayores densidades
