Other Site Characteristics

Espacio marino ligado a los estuarios y las marismas costeras del río Tinto y Odiel, entre Punta Umbría y Mazagón. La costa contigua al espacio se caracteriza por la presencia de arenales y marismas cubiertos principalmente por matorral halófilo y psamófilo, destacando una gran barra de arena de más de 5 km de longitud. Las mareas y los aportes del río influyen directamente en su régimen hídrico. La elevada productividad que esto genera redunda en una gran variedad y riqueza de especies.

4.2 Quality and importance

Extensión marina a la costa que rodea las marismas del río Tinto y Odiel y su entorno, asociada a la importante colonia de charrancito común (Sterna albifrons) reproductora en la zona. Toda la franja costera es importante para el Negrón común (Melanitta nigra) durante los meses de invierno.
