ZEPA situada principalmente en el casco urbano de Jerez de los Caballeros, municipio situado al suroeste de la provincia de Badajos y cabecera comarcar de la Sierra Suroeste. Este espacio se declara como ZEPA por las colonias de cernícalo primilla que nidifican en algunos de los monumentos de esta ciudad (Iglesia de San Bartolomé, Iglesia de Santa María de la Encarnación, Iglesia de Santa Catalina o Iglesia de San Miguel ), declarada como Conjunto Histórico Artístico - Bien de Interés Cultural desde diciembre de 1966.

4.2 Quality and importance

En este espacio se encuentran dos taxones del Anexo I de la Directiva aves, Falco naumanni y Ciconia ciconia, en concentraciones importantes de reproducción. Además existen 4 especies de migrantes de llegada regular como Apus apus, Apus pallidus, Delichon urbica e Hirundo rustica y otros sedentarios fuera del catalogo como Strix aluco y Tyto alba.
