Other Site Characteristics

Participa de una gran heterogeneidad lito-morfoestructural derivada de su inclusión en el Pirineo Axil. Dominan las zonas desprovistas de vegetación, donde afloran las rocas metamórficas y sedimentarias paleozoicas. Existen numerosos ejemplos de formas glaciares, periglaciares y nivales de gran interés geomorfológico y de una gran incidencia espacial, destacando especialmente, los circos glaciares, las cubetas de sobreexcavación (Ibones del Anayet) y los extensos canchales activos que cubren las laderas. A partir de las zonas de cumbres (Pico Anayet 2559m), y conforme descendemos por las laderas, el pastizal alpino coloniza los suelos de gran plasticidad, sometidos temporalmente a procesos de solifluxión y gelifluxión que dan origen a microformas como las vertientes en terracitas.

Espacio singular de reducidas dimensiones donde destacan las turberas y los ibones con multitud de especies florísticas y faunísticas propias de estos biotopos.
