Other Site Characteristics

Garganta cerrada de paredes abruptas y casi verticales originada por la acción erosiva del río Veral sobre calizas y areniscas que se intercalan en el conjunto dominante del Flysch Eoceno. Las cotas superiores del espacio no sobrepasan lo 1.000 m.

4.2 Quality and importance

Importante representación de bosques mixtos y caducifolios bien conservados sobre sustratos calcáreos. Destaca por la incursión de vegetación de carácter mediterráneo en ambientes eurosiberianos. Presencia de especies de aves rupícolas, algunas de ellas en peligro como el quebrantahuesos o de evidente interés como el alimoche.
