Other Site Characteristics

Este río presenta un régimen hidrológico pluvio-nival, derivado de las grandes altitudes de su cabecera y de las retenciones nivales invernales. La cabecera de este pequeño valle de origen glaciar, nace en los Ibones de Bucuesa a una altitud de 2200 metros y va configurando un lecho cada vez más ámplio, con bosquetes desarrollados en sus márgenes de Pinus silvestris y Fagus sylvatica, entremezclados con zonas de matorral algo más degradados de Genista scorpius y Buxus sempervirens. Colonizando los depósitos aluviales se desarrolla un mosaico irregular de sauceda arbustiva mixto y pedregal suelto.

4.2 Quality and importance

Destaca la buena conservación del río hasta aguas arriba de Larrés, con aguas de gran calidad y formaciones de ribera. Hay que resaltar los bosques de la parte más septentrional del río dominados por Fagus sylvatica y Pinus sylvestris.
