Other Site Characteristics

Serranía desarrollada en materiales miocénicos de carcaterísticas detríticas calcáreo-yesíferas que alterna crestas alomadas con barrrancos de fondo plano, barrancos de incisión lineal que drenan mayoritariamente hacie el este, y planicies residuales. Se trata d una zona con baja pluviosidad, de carácter torrencial. El río Ebro (Embalse de Mequinenza) limita el LIC por el este.

4.2 Quality and importance

Espacio con valor ecológico y fitogeográfico excepcional, ejemplo extraordinariamente significativo del complejo de vegetación que caracteriza el dominio climácico del Rhamno-Cocciferetum pistacietosum. La flora presenta una compleja confluencia de afinidades ibero-magrebíes, mediterráneas marítimas, montanas y submediterráneas e irano-turanianas.
