Other Site Characteristics

Sierra constituida por materiales calcáreos cretácicos y jurásicos limitada al este por los congostos y hoces excavadas por el Noguera Ribagorzana al cortar la alineación Mongay-Monsec. El modelado general es kárstico con abruptos escarpes y barrancos encajados, Así mismo es parte del área de recarga del acuífero calcáreo del Monsec.

4.2 Quality and importance

Enclave de las Sierras prepirenaicas de características claramente mediterráneas. Dominan las formaciones de quercineas esclerófilas y marcescentres combinadas con masas naturales de pino negro que alternan con áreas de repoblación. Destacan las formaciones rupícolas y la flora y fauna asociadas a ellas.
