Foz de origen fluvial producida por la erosión del río Escá sobre los materiales de la Sierra de Illón, constituida por calizas marinas masivas.

4.2 Quality and importance

Enclave situado en área biogeográfica mediterránea pero con clara influencia eurosiberiana en el fondo de la garganta o foz. Comunidades vegetales singulares por la diversidad de espacios y por la presencia de taxones mediterráneos y eurosiberianos, algunos de ellos de óptimo cantábrico.
