Other Site Characteristics

Pequeño barranco cuyo nacimiento se enmarca en el Sistema Ibérico Zaragozano, concretamente en la Sierra de la Muela a una altura de 1600 metros y discurre conformando un profundo valle labrado entre formaciones mesozoicas de naturaleza carbonatada. La mayor parte del espacio está formado por un pastizal estacional claro, dando paso en los sectores más bajos a un matorral de cervo-timo-aliagar y a un encinar en los sectores mejor conservados. En la parte más septentrioinal junto a los pastizales aparecen matorrales con presencia de Genista pumilla, tomillar mixto y lastonar mixto de menos de medio metro de altura. En otras zonas domina la Erinacia anthyllis. Por útlimo en el fondo del barranco las acumulaciones de limos y cantos son colonizadas por una franja de vegetación de ribera con Salix alba y Populus alba.

4.2 Quality and importance

Este espacio destaca por la buena representación de pastizales y brezales bien conservados. El barranco se encaja en las calizas mesozoicas conformando abruptas paredes. Hay que resaltar la abundante avifauna con un buen número de aves rapaces.
