4.2 Quality and importance

Los saladares de Cordovilla y Agramón y la Laguna de Alboraj están localizados en la cuenca del río Segura, pertenecen a la subcuenca del río Mundo y a la misma red del arroyo de Tobarra. Son saladares de origen epigénico, su alta salinidad se debe a la naturaleza de los materiales sobre los cuales se asientan, y se hallan sometidos a periodos temporales de encharcamiento detreminados por el régimen pluviométrico de la zona, a los cuales deben estos ecosistemas su mantenimiento. La vegetación es fundamentalmente halófila y halonitrófila, con presencia de especies gipsófilas. Estos saladares constituyen un valioso refugio de flora adaptada a las condiciones de alta salinidad del suelo. Entre esta vegetación destaca el Helianthemum polygonoides, cistácea endémica que cuenta en el saladar de Cordovilla su única población conocida. En opinión de los especialistas, el Saladar de Cordovilla puede ser el saladar interior con mejor grado de conservación.

5.3 Site designation (optional)

En 1997 estas zonas se propusieron como dos lugares diferentes: Saladares de Cordovilla y Agramón, y Laguna de Alboraj. Actualmente se les ha unido y ampliado. La Laguna de Alboraj ha sido recientemente declarada Microrreserva. El Saladar de Cordovilla está considerado como Zona Sensible para la protección de la especie en peligro de extinción Helianthemum polygonoides (figura de protección regulada por la Ley 9/1999 de Conservación de la Naturaleza), y está en fase de tramitación de un Plan de Ordenación de los Recursos Naturales.

6.3 Conservation measures (optional)

Plan de Recuperación de la especie de flora Helianthemum polygonoides. Aprobado por Decreto 236/1999, de 14 de diciembre. Publicado en el D.O.C.M.nº 83 de 30 de diciembre de 1999. El saladar de Cordovilla es Zona Sensible, y está está siendo estudiado para la elaboración del correspondiente Plan de Ordenación de los Recursos Naturales (Orden de 12 de junio. Diario Oficial de Castilla-La Mancha de 21 de junio de 1996) La Laguna de Alboraj ha sido recientemente declarada Microrreserva por Decreto del Consejo de Gobierno.
