Other Site Characteristics

El conjunto de lagunas situadas al NE de la provincia de Guadalajara, en plena Cordillera Ibérica, está formado por humedales estacionales, someros, que se encuentran situados sobre un lecho de cantos rodados de naturaleza cuarcítica unidos por una matriz arcillosa. Las aguas de estas lagunas son de carácter oligohalino y oligotrofas, que se recargan fundamentalmente a partir del agua de lluvia que les llega.

4.2 Quality and importance

Este conjunto de charcas y parameras, representativo del Sistema Ibérico, contiene una importante superficie del hábitat 3170 (charcas estacionales mediterráneas), con representación de las alianzas Preslion cervinae, Isoetion y Agrostion salmanticae. Dichas charcas poseen muy importantes poblaciones del singular helecho Marsilea strigosa, así como sirven como lugar de invernada y paso a numerosas aves acuáticas y grulla. En las parameras el hábitat dominante es el cambronal (Lino appresi-Genistetum rigidissimae), que sirve de soporte a una importante población de alondra de Dupont (Chersophillus duponti). La rareza y fragilidad de sus hábitat, así como la existencia de numerosas especies protegidas, confirman la importancia de este conjunto de humedales y parameras.
