Other Site Characteristics

Situada en el centro de la provincia de Badajoz, en el Término Municipal de Zafra, es un complejo minero formado por varias galerías y pozos de diferentes dimensiones. Una de ellas tiene aproximadamente una longitud de 200m , altura 2,5m y 3m de ancho y sin salas principales ni galerías laterales. interior inundado unos 20cm, húmedo y cálido.El hábitat en el interior de las galerias es el típico.

4.2 Quality and importance

Un total de 7 elementos referidos en las Directivas se encuentran representados en dicho enclave. De ellos 1 son hábitats y 6 se corresponden con taxones del Anexo II. El hábitat se corresponde con "Cuevas no explotadas por el turismo". De acuerdo al uso que los quirópteros hacen de este refugio, la mayor importancia reside en la época de cría, siendo reproductores Miniopterus schreibersi, Myotis myotis, Rhinolophus euryale, Rhinolophus ferrumequinum, Rhinolophus hipposideros y Rhinolophus mehelyi y una especie del Anexo IV de la Directiva Hábitat, Myotis nattereri.
