4.2 Quality and importance

Es el segundo marjal más extenso de Castellón, contando con abundante agua de muy buena calidad. Contiene más del 2% del hábitat de turberas de carrizos básicos, así como una gran diversidad de hábitats propios de humedales. Muy importante para aves acuáticas, especialmente la cigüeñuela y el fumarel cariblanco, contiene poblaciones de Valencia hispanica y galápago europeo y algunas especies de flora endémicas.
