4.2 Quality and importance

Puede considerarse el marjal litoral de agua dulce en mejor estado de conservación de la C. Valenciana, principalmente por la abundancia y calidad de agua de la que se surte. Contiene más del 15% del total de la región mediterránea de los hábitats; "Lagos distróficos naturales", "Ríos mediterráneos de caudal permanente" y "Turberas calcáreas de Claudium mariscus y Carex davalliana", así como más del 2% de "lagos eutróficos naturales" y "prados mediterráneos de hierbas altas y juncos", todos ellos en buen o excelente estado de conservación. Igualmente contiene una población de "Valencia hispanica" y resulta importante para aves acuáticas.
