Other Site Characteristics

El frente costero de esta ZEC es geomorfológicamente de tipo erosivo por la presencia de acantilados, que constituyen la principal unidad geomorfológica en la línea de costa, pero alterna tramos de sedimentación con formación de playas. Los acantilados presentan alturas variables, sometidos a la acción del viento, oleaje y los aerosoles marinos que los modelan y que condicionan la biocenosis asociada; la base de los mismos se adentran en el medio marino hasta los treinta metros de profundidad aproximadamente.

4.2 Quality and importance

Espacio importante para los Hábitats de Interés Comunitario 1110: Bancos de arenas cubiertos permanentemente por agua marina, poco profunda, y 1170: Arrecifes. En los acantilados, la influencia de los aerosoles marinos favorece el desarrollo de hábitats como el HIC 1430: Matorrales halonitrófilos.
