Other Site Characteristics

La actividad tectónica, y más concretamente el plegamiento Hercínico, ha influido notablemente sobre la geomorfología de la zona, produciendo importantes plegamientos, fallas y fracturas, lo que ha dado origen a interesantes formaciones desde el punto de vista paisajístico, entre otras, la falla que produce el salto de unos 20 m de altura del río Guarrizas (Cascada de Cimbarra).

4.2 Quality and importance

Espacio importante para especies y hábitats de interés comunitario de la Directiva 92/43/CEE, en especial destacando los ecosistemas fluviales (HIC 91E0*, 91B0 y 92D0) y la vegetación casmofítica (HIC 8220). Siendo importante también para las aves (Directiva 2009/147/CE), destacando el grupo de las rapaces, y entre ellas la presencia de Aquila adalberti.
