La ZEC Tramo Inferior del Río Guadalimar y Alto Guadalquivir está relacionado con el acuífero cárstico Sierra de Cazorla.

4.2 Quality and importance

En el momento de la propuesta de LIC, el respectivo Formularios Normalizados de Datos Natura 2000, resaltaba para el espacio Tramo Inferior del Río Guadalimar y Alto Guadalquivir: «Importante para el hábitat 92A0 de la Directiva 92/43/CEE. Muy importante para Ophiogomphus cecilia (1037). Importante para Chondrostoma polylepis y Rutilus alburnoides» En función de la mejor información, Plan de Gestin de la ZEC, se ha realizado una nueva reinterpretación de los hábitats y de las especies tal y como se ha especificado en la sección 3 Ecological Info.
