Other Site Characteristics

Espacio relevante para aves migradoras, tanto de paso, invernantes, como estivales. Cuenta con una abundante y variada comunidad de paseriformes estivales nidificantes vinculados al medio forestal, conformada principalmente por sílvidos y túrdidos. Por otro lado, el espacio juega un papel importante como zona de protección frente a inundaciones de la ciudad de Málaga.

4.2 Quality and importance

Importante para diversos hábitats de la Directiva 92/43/CEE, concretamente para formaciones de quercíneas como los HIC 9330, 9340 y 6310, así como para formaciones arbustivas y de matorral constituidos por los HIC 5110 y 5330. Espacio frecuentado por aves rapaces, destacando Hieraaetus pennatus y Circaetus gallicus que cuentan con poblaciones reproductoras en el espacio.
