Other Site Characteristics

Este área comprende fundamentalmente la cuenca de Tejeda, conformada por materiales geológicos muy heterogéneos donde destacan los materiales de la Serie I, los más antiguos de la isla. Sobre estos materiales la erosión ha actuado intensamente modelando un paisaje abrupto muy peculiar. Las masas boscosas existentes están dominadas por el pinar siendo también abundantes los matorales xéricos de sustitución.

4.2 Quality and importance

Espacio que alberga una representación relevante de numerosos hábitat de las islas (pinar, comunidades rupícolas, etc.). En él se encuentran poblaciones de especies prioritarias (Limonium sventenii, Teline rosmarinifolia) y otras de la Directiva como Dendriopoterium pulidoi y Tanacetum ptarmiciflorum, todas ellas especies exclusivas de Gran Canaria.
