Area marina costera protegida de los vientos dominantes

4.2 Quality and importance

Este área presenta aguas muy cálidas y en calma durante la mayor parte del año, siendo además su plataforma muy estrecha, por lo que se pueden encontrar grandes profunidades cerca de la costa. Por sus excelentes condiciones ambientales, es un área donde se observan con fácilidad grupos de cetáceos, destacando el delfín mular (Tursiops truncatus) además de otras especies de organismos bentónicos, siendo además un área de descanso y alimentación de la tortuga boba (Caretta caretta). Por otro lado, es un área de alto interés pesquero, al ser una importante zona de paso de especies de peces pelágicos (atunes, peces espada, etc.).
