Other Site Characteristics

Pelouses sur calcaire dur des environs de Sancerre et du Sud du Pays-Fort. Landes à Genévriers et ourlets thermophiles en continuité avec la forêt. Ruisseaux à Ecrevisses. Pelouses calcicoles : surface très réduite au cours des 20 dernières années du fait de l'extension du vignoble et de l'arrêt du pâturage. Ruisseaux : milieu en bon état mais risque de pollution potentiel hors des zones boisées.

4.2 Quality and importance

Formations végétales relictuelles sur calcaire depuis la pelouse xérophile jusqu'aux forêts sèches. Grande richesse en Orchidées des pelouses sèches, souvent associées à des landes à Genévriers. Présence de plusieurs sites d'hibernation de chauves-souris (6 espèces devenues rares en Europe) comptabilisant plusieurs centaines d'individus ainsi que quelques colonies de reproduction (Grand Murin, Grand Rhinolophe). Les coteaux et boisements hébergent des espèces inscrites à l'annexe II de la directive Habitats. Les ruisseaux hébergent une faune de qualité avec notamment l'Ecrevisse à pattes blanches et des poissons devenus rares en Europe.
