Other Site Characteristics

Sites à cheval sur les départements de l'Indre et du Cher, traversés par l'Arnon et la Théols. Ensembles de formations naturelles sur affleurements calcaires et fonds de vallées humides ou marécageux. Pelouses : isolement dans les cultures et densification de la végétation ligneuse Landes : Evolution vers la forêt dans les secteurs très denses Marais et mégaphorbiaies : fermeture, prolifération de Saules notamment et homogénéisation de la végétation ; mise en culture des fonds de talweg. Marais et forêts alluviales : populiculture présente dans le secteur et progression des résidences secondaires (terrains avec caravanes) en fond de vallée et sur les coteaux. Forêts plutôt bien préservées.

4.2 Quality and importance

Présence d'une flore palustre singulière en fond de vallée. Prairies marécageuses abritant un cortège d'orchidées remarquables (spectaculaire dans la vallée de l'Arnon en particulier) ainsi que des espèces végétales rares et protégées régionalement comme la Gentiane pneumonanthe, la Sanguisorbe officinale et le Pigamon jaune. Présence de formations thermophiles sur calcaire parfois étendues. Importants cortèges d'orchidées sur les pelouses très souvent accompagnés d'espèces rares au niveau régional comme l'Anémone pulsatille, l'Inule de montagne et le Lin de Léon. Vastes étendues des formations à Genévriers.
