Other Site Characteristics

La partie amont est constituée de gorges siliceuses appartenant aux contreforts du Massif Central. Elle est largement boisée mais recèle des landes et éboulis. La partie aval correspond à des coteaux calcaires. La rivière recèle de très beaux radeaux à Renoncules. Présence de grottes à chauves-souris. Le site est localisé sur les domaines biogéographiques atlantique et continental. Habitats peu vulnérables hormis les prairies et les pelouses calcicoles, souvent en déprise.

4.2 Quality and importance

Habitats rares à l'échelle régionale où les zones à relief accusées sont quasi-inexistantes. Ces habitats sont pour la plupart en bon état. Le site abrite d'importantes populations de chauves-souris, dont la seule colonie de reproduction connue en région Centre de Rhinolophe euryale. La partie amont du site héberge une population importante de Sonneur à ventre jaune. Certaines espèces ont actuellement un statut imprécis, justifiant un suivi ou une étude.
