Other Site Characteristics

Le site comprend l'intégralité des 7 km du cours du Magot, un petit affluent de l'Auxance (bassin de la Loire). Il s'agit d'un ruisseau aux eaux courantes, de bonne qualité et bien oxygénées, coulant dans un vallon à pente modérée dont le fond et les versants sont encore occupés en majorité par le bocage caractéristique des terres cristallines de la marge sud du Massif Armoricain (connues sous le nom local de "Gâtine"). Les 3 espèces qui font la valeur patrimoniale du site sont liées à un milieu aquatique d'excellente qualité - eaux pures à teneur élevée en oxygène dissous - et sont donc très sensibles à toute modification pouvant altérer ce facteur : - soit directement : pollutions ponctuelles ou diffuses (rejets organiques ou chimiques entrainant une eutrophisation du milieu), modification des régimes hydraulique et thermique (abaissement des niveaux, sur-réchauffement estival), multiplication des étangs de loisirs avec introduction d'écrevisses et/ou de poissons exotiques porteurs de maladies, etc. - soit indirectement : suppression de la ripisylve (coupes à blanc), intensification agricole du bassin versant (percolation d'engrais et produits phytosanitaires), extraction de matériaux (granulats) dans le lit mineur, construction d'abreuvoirs mal conçus, pénétration d'engins lourds en dehors des gués existants, etc. Par ailleurs, la pêche est autorisée 10 jours par an.

4.2 Quality and importance

Site remarquable par la présence sur tout le linéaire du ruisseau, quoiqu'avec des densités inégales, l'Ecrevisse à pattes blanches, crustacé en très forte régression dans les plaines de l'Europe de l'ouest et considéré de ce fait comme espèce d'intérêt communautaire (inscrite à l'annexe II de la directive Habitats). Le Magot héberge également la Lamproie de Planer et le Chabot, deux espèces de poissons menacées en Europe et inféodées aux eaux pures et oxygénées.
