Other Site Characteristics

Coteaux calcaires sub-méditerranéens et sub-montagnards selon les expositions. Site éclaté en 7 entités distinctes essentiellement boisées sur lesquels subsistent plusieurs secteurs de pelouses sèches et faciès d'embuissonnement. Régression progressive des habitats ouverts/semi-ouverts, consécutif à l'absence d'entretien/activité sur ces milieux. L’abandon des pratiques agricoles traditionnelles, notamment le pastoralisme, constitue la principale menace pour le site. Les prairies connaissent des dégradations en raison de changement de pratiques (intensification voire plantations de peupliers). Les milieux forestiers sont menacés par des pratiques forestières non appropriées. L’ensemble des habitats subit la pression d’une urbanisation souvent non encadrée par un document d’urbanisme.

4.2 Quality and importance

Le site Natura 2000 "Coteaux calcaires du causse de Daglan et de la vallée du Céou" a été proposé comme Site d'Importance Communautaire (pSIC) en raison de la présence de la succession dynamique de la végétation sur coteaux calcaires. Ces milieux en régression présentent une flore et une faune caractéristiques, aux tendances parfois méditerranéennes, qui concourent à faire de ce site Natura 2000 un territoire à forte valeur patrimoniale et paysagère où les enjeux de conservation sont primordiaux.
