Other Site Characteristics

Site archéologique et paléontologique de première importance (notamment découverte d'un crâne d'âge Néanderthal et archivage du résultat des fouilles dans un bâtiment en surface). Très forte au dérangement humain.

Cavité de transit de chauves-souris (Minioptère de Schreibers, Petit Murin et Rhinolophe euryale) et peuplement d’invertébrés cavernicoles endémiques de l’Ariège.

6.3 Conservation measures (optional)

Mesures de conservation : Un programme de 14 fiches-actions propose des contrats au niveau des agriculteurs ou des propriétaires forestiers afin d’accompagner des activités humaines et d’encourager la gestion des milieux importants pour les chauves-souris. Cela va, par exemple, encourager la gestion des prairies de fauche de manière extensive, l’entretien des haies bocagères, la lutte contre la déprise agricole ou encore une gestion forestière favorisant la conservation de vieux arbres. Des actions permettront la découverte des chiroptères au travers de l’organisation d’événements pour le grand public du type de la « nuit de la chauve-souris » ou la réalisation de supports de sensibilisation dans les villages. Initialement réduit au gîte (la grotte), le DOCOB a montré l’importance des milieux de chasse des espèces : prairies, mares, rivières et du réseau de haies et des arbres morts… C’est pourquoi, l’extension du site est proposée dans l’objectif d’une meilleure prise en compte du domaine vital des espèces de chauves-souris : un périmètre élargi de 1 km de rayon sera proposé. Ce programme d’actions sera également l’occasion d’améliorer les connaissances sur les chiroptères.
