Other Site Characteristics

Situé au coeur du bassin aquitain, le site est constitué de deux zones de côteaux, issus de l'érosion de terrains de l'ère tertiaire, et sillonnés par de petits cours d'eau. Le site comporte en outre deux cavités. Les habitats d'espèces présentent un état de conservation globalement satisfaisant. Le maintien de la tranquillité des cavités constitue un élément essentiel pour assurer la pérennité, voire le développement des principales espèces reproductrices. En ce qui concerne les terrains de chasse des chiroptères, la mosaïque d'habitat existante leur est relativement favorable. Il conviendrait toutefois de s'assurer du maintien de la structure paysagère.

4.2 Quality and importance

Ce site héberge régulièrement 8 espèces de chiroptères de l'annexe II. Il est fréquenté à toutes les saisons par les chauves-souris. En particulier, parmi ces espèces, le Minioptère de Schreibers et le complexe bispécifique Petit Murin/Grand Murin possèdent des effectifs remarquables en période de reproduction. Les effectifs du complexe bi-spécifique Petit Murin/Grand Murin ne peuvent être différenciés. Au total, ce sont près d'un millier d'individus adultes des deux espèces qui sont présents en période de reproduction sur le site. Par ailleurs, le site s'avère être également d'une grande importance pour le transit automnal du Minioptère de Schreibers.
